Armentrout Significance: A Significance Series Novel - Shelly Crane Ruby Red - Kerstin Gier Crash - Nicole Williams

Read five series, five trilogies and a duology

For the read five series it has to be a series with four or more books. I have to at least read the last book in the series to count towards the goal. Then for the five trilogies it has to be three book in the series thus being a trilogy. Also like the series I have to read at least the last book to count. Then duology or companion books it is a book that just has two books in the series. Companion books are books like Just One Day and Just One Year by Gayle Forman. For this challenge I will read the last book in the duology to count. I decided to do this challenge because I usually start series and trilogies, but don’t finish them. Best Books Published in 2014

City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare Sweet Reckoning - Wendy Higgins Cress - Marissa Meyer Panic - Lauren Oliver Catch a Falling Star - Kim Culbertson

 1. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare- One of the best books ever. Amazing characters, setting, story line and perfect amount of action, romance and fantasy.

2. Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins- Best Ending ever, Loved the characters relationships with one another and how they are realistic people with their personalities. There is perfect amount of everything>

3. Cress  by Marissa Meyer- Very Unique like the rest of the series. The twists on the story are so cool. Such as the people who live on the moon(Luners). I really like how the story flows and how new stories come together with the stories from the previous books.( CANT WAIT FOR WINTER)

4. Panic by Lauren Oliver - This book is very realistic and shows how greedy people are. I really liked the multiple point of view. It also shows what is most important in life. (MY FULL REVIEW LINK DOWN BELOW)

5. Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson- I really like to see stories about people who are famous. The book was during the last few weeks of summer in a small town( Little, California) and love the setting. The main Characters Carter & Adam are really sweet and down to earth.

(Note: All these were published in 2014 and this is totally my opinion.)

Biggest Disappointment of 2014

The Jewel - Amy Ewing

The Jewel by Amy Ewing- I had really high hopes for this book. I had pre-ordered this book because I was excited about it. I found the story premise to be cool and I heard that some compare it to The Hunger Games Trilogy and The Selection trilogy. For me it was a little like The Selection with the glamour and luxury of the life style. To me it was not really even close to The Hunger Games except for the little bit of rebellion with being a surrogate. Then the romance was really too starstruck and instant love. It was super annoying over the story and the characters were not reliable or realistic. Overall the story had so much potential, but sadly it did live up to the expectations and in the end I gave it ⅖ stars in the end.

(Note: These are my thoughts alone.)

Favorite Couples of 2014

Vampire Academy Box Set 1-6 - Richelle Mead Sweet Evil - Wendy Higgins Sweet Peril - Wendy Higgins Sweet Reckoning - Wendy Higgins Cinder - Marissa Meyer Scarlet - Marissa Meyer Cress - Marissa Meyer Fallen Too Far - Abbi Glines Never Too Far - Abbi Glines Forever Too Far - Abbi Glines

1. Anna Whitt & Kaiden Rowe- They are so cute together and they understand each other. The fantasy is awesome with the angel and demon parts.

2. Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov- Although the age gap they get each other and balance each other with their personalities They also make each other better people.

3. Linh Cinder & Prince Kai (Kaito)- I love the story and how she is not human, but part machine and now they love to hate each other. Also how they become rivals in the stories that love each other.

4. Blaire Wynn & Rush Finlay- I love their relationship because he is awesome, very protective and secretive. She is super sweet and has her problems, but that is what makes the relationship so much better. They are both messed up, but they make each other better as the story goes along.

(Note: Not all these were published in 2014 and this is totally my opinion.)

Review: Panic

Panic - Lauren Oliver

“Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.”- Goodreads

Wow! I loved this book.  First off I wanted to say I have so many feelings about this book. I loved our main Characters. The first character we meet is Heather who is at the start of panic to support her friend Natalie, but at the last minute she decides to play. I really sympathise for her with her family situations and I really like seeing what's in her head. Then there is Bishop who is super secretive and supportive of his friends. At first I did not like him, but he was really impressed with him as the story went along. He also has something to do with Panic.  Next is Dodge who we get to see part of the story from. He was one of the people who was picked on at school and also has bad family problems. He always knew he was going to play Panic, but it is not for the money, he wants revenge.  Finally there is Nattile who just wants to play for the money. I really don’t like her character she is deceitful, manipulative, a bit caring, and dimwitted. She is not the type of friend I would like to have.  I really liked how she did the duo point of view. When you do it right (this book) it makes so much sense and it weaves together right. This book did this and made the story so much better than I thought it would be. When you read a chapter from one person and then the next from the other character it gives so much suspense and mystery to the novel.

OMG! The challenges are so crazy. First the Jump to say you will compete in the  the Panic. Then they had to walk across a plank from one watertower to another. Though it did not count because the cops came. Next they had to steal something from the crazy-shooter’s house. Dodge, Heather and Natalie team up in the competition.Though Nat had a deal with both Heather and Dodge. Dodge went in but Heather goes in and find the bonus item. They barely escaped the house and Heather got the bonus points. The next challenge was to stay at a haunted house for as long as possible. The three stayed in a room until they smelled smoke. Dodge got Nat out who went to go get the fire department. Heather and Dodge stay behind and they wake up in a hospital when they find out they won the challenge. The next challange was crossing the hiway the fasted while blindfolded. Heather won that challange and Nat lost. There were five people left in the game. Then one of the competeters atacted the anoucer and was was eliminated from the game beacuse of this Nat was alowed back in the game. Now there was the individual challenges. Dodge found out who the Judge was. He was shocked to see Bishop was the first judge and made a trade with them. Dodge didn’t have to do his individual challenge. Bishop had Dodge help save Heather from her challange. Heather’s challange was to use the gun from the second challange to use it on herself and trust it wasent loaded. Dodge helped her by taking the bulitts out, like Bishop instructed him to. Then Nat’s challange was to stay in the tigier area for 10 seconds. She did not make it. so there were only three left Ray, Heather and Dodge. The last challange is when the competeters are in one lane floring twords eachother. This was what Dodge wonted to get ting revenge on Rays brother Luke who went up aganst Dodges sister Dana. That day two years ago his sister lost her ability to walk. Now he plans to destroy ray. He created an explosive and planed to switch cars with ray. Heather and Dodge make a plan together that heather would lose to him and he would split the money with her. Then Nat found out about his plan and stopped him with the help of Luke and Heather. She goes to the final challenge with Dodges car, but she does not know that the explosive is by the engine. when she is doing that challenge the car starts to flame and both her and Ray go of the road. Ray hit a tree and Heather got out safely before the  car exploded. The reason Ray swerved was because the missing tiger was in the middle of the road and heather was no longer affired. She went to it and she won the game. Also there was Heathers life outside the game her mom and stepdad are getting high and drinking. While Heather takes care of herself and younger her sister. Later in the book I love how Heather stands up to her mom and goes away. after awhile she endups at Ann’s. Ann’s her employer who has a ton of animals including tigers. Then I love her and Bishop. When he breaks the kiss and breaks her heart at Nat’s party I felt bad for her . Then when she found out about him being a judge it was sad seeing her all depressed after. Then he goes and turns himself in for the mansion fire. I loved the ending  Dodge and Nat as a couple and then Bishop and Heather as a couple. Bishop coming back every weekend for Heather and community service. Heather is going to school to be a vet. Nats taking acting classes in college. Heather and her sister are going to see their mom who was arrested.

I have read two of her other books this year, but this book was the best. If you like suspense, stress, drama, a touch of romance and some mystery then I think you would like this book.I really enjoyed this book so it gets 5/5.

Update:

So as the year runs down I wanted to share what are some of my favorite books, series, trilogies, genres, and scenes of the year. I will try my best to have at least one topic a week, but school is really busy right now so there are no guarantees. The books I mention are not always going to be released from 2014, but ones I read this year. To have this information it will be on bottom of post with (Note). I hope you like my favorites. Also I love to hear what you say about these posts so feel free to comment. ;) ;) ;)

The scene that made me cry the most (2014 edition)

The One - Kiera Cass

The scene that made me cry the most was from The One by Kiera Cass.

I felt so bad for America when her dad dies. I was literally balling when I read this book. Then during the time she was at home for the funeral and when she read the letter her father left to her. I could just feel the sadness, sorrow and regret roll of the pages. Another reason I loved this scene was because it was really realistic and heartfelt. I have read The One three times now and I have cried like an idiot all three times.

This is the scene that made me cry the most this year.

review: Only Everything

Only Everything - Kieran Scott

Sometimes the gods can be so unreasonable.

Like Zeus, the king, who thinks the proper reaction to finding me kissing a mortal is to threaten my boyfriend Orion's life, banish me to Earth, and force me to inspire true love between three couples without my powers. I know! Elders! I'm Eros, a.k.a. Cupid. The Goddess of Love. Until this morning, anyway.

Now I'm stuck on Earth with no clue how to function as a human, and I can't even conjure up my magical bow and arrows to help me do my job. I've already met this amazing guy—Charlie, a new kid in school like me—but matching him up isn't as easy as I thought. Turns out opposites don't attract, nearly identicals don't attract, and giving a guy what he seems to want is just one big disaster. My sweet new friend Katrina might work, but she's got more complications than Medusa's hair, and a live-in boyfriend with a serious mean streak. Probably not the best idea to go there.

If I don't make a match, I may never see Orion again. I have so much to lose, and only everything to gain.”- Goodreads

I love this book. True/ Eros/ Cupid is super entertaining and loyal to her love Orion. How she would do anything for him it is so admirable. I loved how you got to see what happens with Orion before her and her mother were exiled. I liked how instead of Cupid being a guy its a girl instead. I really liked Katrina and Charlie’s characters. Katrina is really smart, but has been hurt with her dad's death and her jerk of a boyfriend. Charlie is new to the school  and is in to music, but has a family issues. Then Aphrodite is so melodramatic with her being a human. She is the person who makes all the snarky comments about there situation.

When Ty showed up and was hurting Katrina. After  True saves her and charlie wants to help her, but did not because he felt like she should be alone. I absolutely loved how they became a couple first strangers, friends, close friends/project partners and finally a couple. The scene where Charlie comes to see Katrina after Josh's party and comes to her house in the nick of time to save her from an enraged Ty. After Ty leaves they share a first kiss. The last scene killed me  when True sees Orion at her school and does not remember her I am still crying.

(show spoiler)

I really enjoyed this book. It had lots of romance, tips of life, it was super funny and has relatable characters. It really was a different than any other books I have read. Super cute 4.5/5. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Art of Lainey

The Art of Lainey - Paula Stokes

“Soccer  star Lainey Mitchell is gearing up to spend an epic summer with her amazing boyfriend, Jason, when he suddenly breaks up with her—no reasons, no warning, and in public no less! Lainey is more than crushed, but with help from her friend Bianca, she resolves to do whatever it takes to get Jason back.

And that’s when the girls stumble across a copy of The Art of War. With just one glance, they're sure they can use the book to lure Jason back into Lainey’s arms. So Lainey channels her inner warlord, recruiting spies to gather intel and persuading her coworker Micah to pose as her new boyfriend to make Jason jealous. After a few "dates", it looks like her plan is going to work! But now her relationship with Micah is starting to feel like more than just a game.

What's a girl to do when what she wants is totally different from what she needs? How do you figure out the person you're meant to be with if you're  still figuring out the person you're meant to be?” -Goodreads

Lainey is such a cool character, she is a star of her school's soccer team and she is such a hard worker. Micah is a troubled guy who is loyal and is supportive of Lainey. When I first started reading it it was really slow. Then when Lainey and Bianca find The Art of War it gets super interesting. The way the book comes into the story it becomes super entertaining. Maciah and Lainey when they fake date it is so fun to read about them. Then it is entertaining  to read about how Lainey and Micah try to  win there ex’s and to stop from falling in love with each other.  When you get to know Jason and Kendall Chase  who were her ex and one of her best friend, they really are evil. Then Lainey’s best friend is Bianca who is supper supporting, helpful and understanding.

Lainey really changed from being snobby and just cares about Jason to being supportive and cares about where she is going to go. In the end I loved how both Lainey and Miach ditch the plan to get there ex’s back. How in the end Miach uses The Art of War against Lainey.

Overall I loved this book it was extremely romantic, witty and different. I gave it a 4.5/5.

Review: Shatter Me Trilogy

Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi Ignite me - Tahereh Mafi

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.”- Goodreads

I really enjoyed the series because it was it was so different from other stories I have read. the powers are so fascinating to learn about. I also liked the chemistry between Juliette and Warner in the last two books. Over all I liked the third book the best altho I did not like the ending. My favorite character is definitely Kenji because he is such a good friend and is super funny.

Ok so in the first book I was totally Team Adam instead of Team Warner. Adam was a sweet guy in the first book  who loved his brother. Then after Kenji takes them to Omega Point and he learns about his powers. After that I started to like him less and less because of how he treated those who were trying to help him, especially Juliette.  Finally in the last book when I thought he could not be any more of a jerk, he did. When he found out Warner was his brother he blocks everyone out. After that I wanted to throw him off a cliff because he was so rude and mean. Then Warner became way better than Adam the way he was there for Juliette and he was such a good leader I feel in love with him. Although he hurt Juliette he was actually trying to protect her and he did that. At first I liked him some, but it was when he was taking care of Juliette after his father shot her I was in love with him. My favorite thing about Juliette was how much she changed from being scared young girl who tried to keep herself away from people to a strong rebel leader who is in love with Warner.

(show spoiler)

Over all I really liked it and would give it 4.5/5 stars. As individuals Shatter me and Unravel Me were  both really good, but I did not like a few parts or I thought It was missing something so I  gave both 4.5/5 stars. Over all I liked Ignite Me the best altho I did not like the ending, but I could not give it less then 5/5 .

MY REVIEW:

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how Simone Elkeles came up with our female protagonist Ashtyn Parker. She Is so unique I loved her personality such as how even though she was made fun of and teased for liking to play football. Then the male protagonist Derek Fitzpatrick is super sweet and even cooler with this secret of his. I fell in love with his character with his wanting to help Ashtyn even though she does not want it.  I really enjoyed Derek's Grandmother because she did not do what I expected from her and her relationship with Derek evolved throughout the second half of the novel. I would love to have her as my Grandmother. Then there is Landon the quarterback for Ashtyn's team and also her jerk of a boyfriend who I found that as the story continued on I came to despise him.

I love how in this one scene Ashtyn is crying at football camp in Texas and she remembers how Derek told her to be strong and that she can do anything even if her ex is telling others to be mean to her.

(show spoiler)

Also I about cried at the end it was so romantic and sweet it totally showed how much Derek loves Ashtyn. I would definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to read more books by Simone Elkeles.

Review #1 Sweet Reckoning

Sweet Reckoning - Wendy Higgins

It was so amazing. I had so many feels after I finished this book.

I was so sad when Patti and Marna died and the Dukes chose there path to go to heaven and be angels again or go to hell and suffer.

(show spoiler)

It was so action packed and cute so how could I not give it a 5/5. It was sad to say bye to the characters we grew to love Anna, Kaidan, Blake, Ginger,Marna, Jay, Patti and Duke Belial.  I love the romance between Anna and Kaiden its such a sweet and different relationship because of there sins that they got from there fathers and there thoughts on life. Then the friendship between Kaidan and Blake was so realistic like how they joke around and help each other it seams as if they are best friends. This book had an amazing ending and now I can't wait to read Wendy Higgins new book Sweet Temptation which is the whole Sweet trilogy told from Kaidan's point of view.
